Well, only one more week til I run my first marathon. This year has been a busy one, what with retirement coming soon, running a bunch of miles (yes, I actually trained for this!) and general military stuff, I haven't had time to keep up with this. Sure I've run some races too, but I've been focused on this marathon.
The marathon in question is the Rock 'n Roll Country Music Marathon in Nashville, TN. From what I've been told by my neighbor who ran it once, it's got a fair amount of hills. Awesome! Almost like my debut into the half marathon a while ago, the very hilly (and 23* cold) Topeka to Auburn Half Marathon. But I survived that, so I'll survive this.
Here are my goals for the race:
Overall goal is to finish (without looking like death's relative).
My "A" goal is 3:30 (8:00 pace)
B Goal is 3:45 (8:37 pace)
C Goal is 4:00 (9:00 pace)
I think B & C are achievable, "A" might be pushing it.
The stats / fun facts of the race:
26.2 miles (longest run prior to this race is 17 miles)
1015 Feet Gain (449 ft starting elevation, 648 ft max elevation)
That means a lot of up and down and back up again
There are 16 waterstations, two GU stops, and 26 bands, playing live music!
I start in corral # 9
I'm race number is 9147 (so my goal should be top 10,000 runners, right?)
My blood type is A+ (just in case!)
4131: Total amount of calories I expect to burn (I'll take in about 1000 calories during the run)
Well, it's been fun with numbers, but one more week!
